Taylor + Addison

We are excited to wish this special couple a happy first anniversary this month!

Taylor and Addison first met on a blind date at a fall themed college social event at Duke. They talked, joked, and laughed all night, learning about the many commonalities they shared (perhaps most importantly, a life-long love of Duke basketball).  After that night they were inseparable -except during the five plus years after graduation, spent living in different cities.  Many hours were consumed driving to visit one another on the weekends, but worth it every time whether exploring  new places, traveling or discovering their favorite restaurants through their courtship.   Addison schemed up the most perfect proposal at the place that initially brought them together, at the top of the Duke Chapel.  Finally, after over five long years of being long-distance, they were engaged and finally in the same city upon starting business school at UVA together.  

We worked with them to define an event that mirrored their personalities offering a classic, traditional vibe in line with the castle-like luxury of Dover Hall Estate. It was suiting that several of the architectural elements of the venue - gothic stone arched windows and doorways -parallel those of their beloved alma mater Duke University where they were engaged.   We decided on a  pastel color palette highlighting the picturesque estate while softening it’s bold, dominant features.  The sophisticated florals exuded springtime elegance that we accented with  crisp whites,  lush greenery, and rich gold throughout the ceremony and reception.    

Memorable elements include a personalized monogram logo we tied throughout from the stationery to the decor, a band trio that paraded guests down the grand staircase for dinner in the tented patio, and a send off through a tunnel of fireworks as they drove off a happy couple! Thanks Taylor and Addison for allowing us to be a part of the fun!
