5 Tips to Feeling Amazing on Your Wedding Day

Well its official- spring has sprung and so has wedding season!  You’ve been focusing on this day for months spending hours making all the important logistical decisions, rushing around to meet with vendors, attend tastings, and writing your vows.   With all the stress that can come with planning such a monumental occasion, don’t forget to take care of yourself along the way!

How can you ensure you will be looking and FEELING your best as you trot down the aisle? We caught up with local certified health coach and personal trainer, Brittany Mullins.  Lover of all things food, nutrition and fitness, Brittany also happens to be a recent bride herself, so we knew she’d have the perfect advice to share with us today!

Whether you’re trying to lose a few pounds before the big day or you just want to have radiant skin and a healthy glow, here are a handful of easy to implement tips from the pro herself!

1.) Drink lots of water: If I could only give one health tip this would be it. Dehydration decreases your metabolism, whereas drinking plenty of water can boost your metabolism. You should be drinking at least half your body weight in ounces. Example: if you weigh 150 pounds, you need to be drinking at least 75 ounces a day.

2.) Healthy eats: Preparation is the key to eating healthy! Having fresh vegetables and fruits, lean protein, healthy fats and smart carbs prepared each week is super helpful for staying on track. I like to make big batches of roasted veggies and brown rice or quinoa at the beginning of the week so I have healthy foods in the fridge ready to go for quick lunches. Check out my blog for lots of healthy recipes!

3.) Move more: Try to get in some sort of exercise every day. I highly recommend trying to workout 4-5 times a week with at least 3 strength training sessions and 2 cardio sessions. Pick things that you enjoy so that doesn’t feel like chore.

4.) Keep a food and exercise journal: This is extremely helpful to track how much you’re eating — sometimes you don’t realize how many small bites here and there add up. You can do a hand-written journal or go digital and log your food/fitness from the computer or your smartphone.

5.) Sleep more and stress less: Besides eating right and exercising more, these are the next big things! Make sure you get 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night and try hard to keep your stress level under control. I know it’s hard when planning a wedding but yoga and meditation work wonders. Trust me!

We hope you found these tips to be helpful in becoming the happiest, healthiest bride you can be!
